Combat with real weight
Dodge-roll, parry, and chain hundreds of weapon combinations. The feel is the product — snappy, readable, and fair.
Action · Playdigious
A roguelike so fluid it makes console action games feel arthritic — and the phone port is shockingly good.

The premise
Dead Cells is a roguelike action-platformer — a “roguevania” — where you fight through a cursed island as a blob of cells piloting a corpse. Runs are fast, brutal, and permadeath; what persists between them is a slow drip of permanent unlocks and, more importantly, your own growing mastery of its razor-sharp combat.
On a phone this should not work. It does, remarkably: Playdigious rebuilt the controls for touch with the kind of care most studios reserve for full sequels, and the 60fps combat survives intact. It has become the standard answer to “which action game should I actually buy on Android?”
The $7.99 is the whole base game. The in-app purchases you’ll see listed are real DLC expansions — new biomes and bosses — not energy, gems, or anything that smells like a free-to-play economy.
Why you should play
The best pure action game on Android. Every death is your fault, every run makes you sharper, and it never once asks for another dollar to keep going.

Full controller support. With a Bluetooth pad it's indistinguishable from the console version.
Honest but demanding. Early deaths come fast; the permanent upgrades and your own pattern knowledge compound until bosses that felt impossible become routine.

Dozens of hours to first clear, hundreds if the ascending difficulty tiers hook you. The DLC adds whole new biome routes.
From the collection
Death is the loop, mastery is the reward. Four games where losing a run at 1 a.m. only ever means starting another.
